FOI request social media

Today 15th March 2019 we were made aware of a FOI request to the National Federation regarding annual conference which was being circulated on social media.

Merseyside Police Federation were not aware of the request or the response that had been supplied and in turn the National Chairman was contacted for an explanation.

Annual Conference is the PFEW main showcase event - the only event that allows the Federation to join with key influencers and stakeholders nationally to talk about and debate the realities of policing - the only event at which the PFEW stand together to address the Home Secretary in person.

The PFEW hold this first and foremost for its members - it is attended and reported on by all mainstream media and puts policing firmly on a national stage.

The response to the FOI request that is currently in circulation is NOT accurate.

This represents an increase (net cost) of  65,123 from 2017 to 2018, NOT  374,997 as circulated on social media.
